I currently work as a creative designer, at a company specialising in children's brand licensing and marketing. I work with various licensees as well as some of South Africa's top retailers. I have a great understanding of the South African retail market, having worked in retail. I assist with product development, artwork guidance and range selection, specific to the retailer image, as well as target market.
Prior to this I worked as junior merchandiser and graphic artist, designing and developing menswear ranges for both retail and corporate companies. This was a highly educational experience, as I developed a great knowledge of the different South African retailers, from the low end through to the higher end retailers. I began my career as a trims buyer for a clothing manufacturer, with a large focus on local production. I learned the various steps involved in the production of garments from a manufacturer point of view.
My great interest in fashion expands to magazines. I was lucky enough to do a brief internship at Elle magazine as part of a work experience module at college. More recently, I have become involved and the online world of blogging; I really enjoy the real-time updates, and information available, both locally and internationally. I created my own lifestyle blog in February of 2010, and blog about what inspires me.
