Clive Mennel Fellowship
The two successful candidates will join colleagues from major print and broadcast media from around the world at Duke University’s DeWitt Wallace Center for Communication and Journalism. The Center’s media fellows’ programme is the largest and most international of its kind in the US and offers a wide selection of opportunities and resources. At the core of the programme is a series of seminars designed to address the most important policy issues on the media agenda in the coming years. These discussions led by prominent journalists, scholars and key policy makers — focus on issues such as journalism and media, public policy, economics, international relations, environmental affairs and new media technologies. The programme provides a valuable opportunity for mid-career journalists to share experiences and develop relationships for sustained professional networking.
Applications for fellowships are being processed by the Institute for the Advancement of.Journalism. Applications must contain:
i. a detailed CV, giving educational and employment history, ID and full contact details;
ii. a one-page-only list of major stories/programmes produced by the applicant in the past three years, or an outline of their recent newsroom responsibilities;
iii. a one-page justification setting out why the applicant feels they merit consideration for this fellowship, and how they feel it would affect their career plans;
iv. a letter of support from their organisation, granting leave of absence, if the applicant is successful, for the duration of the fellowship.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications will be looked at upon receipt thereof – there is no deadline as it is an ongoing process.. The final decision for the selection of successful candidates will jointly be made by the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ) and the Duke University.
