On 29 May 2024, South Africans voted in a pivotal election, with the leadership outcome uncertain for the first time since 1994.
Students from the Thokoza-based initiative, Of Soul and Joy (OSJ), documented the election day through photography, capturing historical moments.
Unlike in 1994, where journalists and professional photographers told these stories, today's youth are creating their own archives. OSJ project manager Jabulani Dhlamini highlights this project as a visual dialogue between the past and present, reflecting the youth's perspective on the nation's progress.
