The 2019 Joburg Film Festival opened at Sandton's Nelson Mandela Square last night 19 November 2019. The festival opened with the South African premiere of local horror film, 8, starring Tshamano Sebe, Inge Beckmann, Garth Breytenbach & Chris April.
The second edition of the SA Indie Film Fest took place in Johannesburg on 18 May at The Bioscope and on the 26 May 2019 at The Labia Theatre in Cape Town. SAIFF showcased talented, short-form indie filmmakers, both local and international.

The team behind new dance film Pop, Lock ‘n Roll, producers Mayenzeke Baza and Pascal Schmitz, and director Ziggy Hofmeyr, hosted a VIP screening of the film at CineCentre Killarney on Wednesday night, 21 September, ahead of the film's release next Friday, 29 September.
