Radio 2000 graces Hare Krishna Song and Dance Festival
The Hare Krishna Song and Dance Festival, held for the first time in Soweto - Molofo Park Cultural Bowl on the 13-14 October was a great success. Hare Krishna devotees attended from all areas around the country as well as internationally, to support the launch of this popular festival that usually takes place in Durban.
Radio 2000 was present and broadcasted live from at the event in Soweto on Sunday the 14 October. Some of the guests that were interviewed was Vibhu Caitanye who is the vice president of the Hare Krishna Temple in Durban who expressed his pleasure with the turnout at the event; Tirta who is a Hare Krishana devotee and musician came from Spain to partake at the festival, expressed his gratitude to South Africa for the warm welcome.
The theme of the event and for the broadcast was of religious and cultural tolerance. The two day event had edutainment drama's like a puppet show for the kiddies to teach them about Krishna, hip-hop and African traditional artists performing to a huge audience, a sure illustration that everyone can be tolerant and embracing of other cultures and religions; Thelma Chetty Radio 2000's marketing manager who was present on both days said "Watching the various cultural denominations interacting, rejoicing, eating together and learning about each other without any hesitation or reservations is an indication that through activities like the Hare Krishna Song and Dance Festival we will be able to create a united South Africa."
