Best Director Award for Dollars and White Pipes at Pan African Film Festival
Comments producer Helena Spring, "We are thrilled that Donovan has been acknowledged for his immense talent. He is truly deserving of the Best Director Award from the Pan African Film Festival. We had identified Donovan's directing skills when we worked with him on the hit gameshow, 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'. We subsequently produced the short film, Dead End, with him and we are currently developing other film projects with Donovan."
Dollars and White Pipes, produced in association with M-Net, stars a host of Cape talent, among whom are Clint Brink ('Generations'), Joey Yusuf Rasdien, Shaun Arnolds, Genevieve Howard and Kevin Smith. The film is produced by Anant Singh and Helena Spring, with executive producers by Sanjeev Singh and Sudhir Pragjee.
Dollars and White Pipes is a rags to riches story which follows Bernie journey from the drug and gang culture to emotional and moral independence as he overcomes issues of race, education, addiction and racketeering and finally becomes a well respected and law abiding business entrepreneur - which he still is today.
Making his feature film debut with Dollars and White Pipes, Marsh is known for directing television series 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'? and 'MTN Gladiators'. Marsh also directed the award-winning short film, Dead End, for Videovision Entertainment.
Says Marsh, "I am very excited with this recognition from the Pan African Film Festival. Credit also has to go to the many people that made personal sacrifices to ensure that Dollars and White Pipes came to fruition."
Dollars and White Pipes will be released on DVD by Next Video on 21 April 2006.
