Apple: Jobs resigns, Cook takes over
Apple Computer's founder and chief executive Steve Jobs - who has been on special medical leave since January - is to step down from his daily responsibilities but has made himself available for appointment as chairman of the company.
The announcement was made last night and carried on all major news channels, including CNN and the BBC. According to an article published in Times Live Jobs' fans have expressed sadness at his resignation amid fears that his health is ailing.
Times Live says that it is still unclear how Jobs will be able to contribute to the company or what his role in the future will be.
Business Report says that Jobs has been elected chairman and Tim Cook has been appointed the new chief executive officer.
