Broll adds two new malls to portfolio

Westwood Shopping Centre in KwaZulu-Natal and Goldfields Mall, a new shopping centre in Welkom in the Free State, have both outsourced their complete property management requirements to property management company Broll Property Group. This includes the management of all operations, admin processes, rent collection, statement generation, leasing and facilities management.

Goldfields Mall, measuring 35 000m², opened at the end of October 2010 and the 38 000m² Westwood Centre, owned by a property consortium with Retail Africa as the main shareholder, is an existing client where Broll provided administration services only.

"Broll is already active in the Bloemfontein area, where it provides full management services at the popular Mimosa Mall," explains Preston Gaddy. "This move further afield into Welkom bodes well for our expanding footprint in the region and we are determined to ensure that the mall becomes a valuable asset and node of retail excellence for the community."

An appealing mix

Gaddy believes that the mall's strong national retail component, comprising Checkers, Woolworths, Edgars, Truworths and Mr Price will appeal to the local market and other retailers who want to benefit from this retail opportunity. "Staff members have been appointed and service providers have been finalised, including a security company, in the build up to opening," he notes.

Westwood Centre is well entrenched in the Westville area, which provides a unique experience to shoppers. His first challenge is to implement a new strategic letting plan for the centre. "The centre is anchored by an excellent collection of leading national retailers, including Pick n Pay, Edgars, Truworths and Dis-Chem and we are already receiving excellent feedback from prospective tenants keen on the opportunities offered by the existing retail mix and shopper profile," concludes Gaddy.
