One of the world's leading travel guide resources, Lonely Planet, has announced their choice of the World's 10 Best Beach Cities and Cape Town was voted second amongst the likes of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Sydney, Australia and Miami in the USA.

The Lonely Planet, a trusted multifaceted travel resource with a history spanning over 30 years, announced their choice of the World's Best 10 Beach Cities describing Cape Town as 'good-looking, fun-loving, sporty and sociable'.

Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariette du Toit Helmbold, said that this endorsement was a celebration of Cape Town's versatility:
