Bobby Malabie, Group Executive for Marketing and Corporate Relations - Barclays Africa, said that the decision to extend the KKNK sponsorship followed a robust review of the property in line with the bank's business and brand objectives.

"In addition to gaining targeted reach to key market segments through our KKNK property, we're also delighted to remain strong supporters of the arts in our country," said Malabie.

"As sponsors, we know that we've added considerable value in enhancing the KKNK over the past 12 years and we look forward to helping the festival prosper in the years ahead. It is not only the arts that benefits from the festival though and we are proud of the contribution we have been able to make to the town and communities of Oudtshoorn," he added.

Executive Head at KKNK, Rhode Snyman, stated: "We are extremely pleased that Absa will be continuing as a key KKNK sponsor as this festival has enjoyed tremendous growth over the years owing to the bank's support. We certainly look forward to taking the festival to new heights with Absa's continued sponsorship."

Snyman added that, going forward, the festival will simply be known as the KKNK.

Absa also helps artists and art lovers to achieve their ambitions by supporting the Barclays L'Atelier, one of the longest running art competitions of its kind in Africa. In marking the 30th anniversary of L'Atelier, the competition was also opened to artists from Botswana, Ghana, Zambia and Kenya this year.
