Smart donation for special education

DionWired has donated a Smart Board, valued at R40 000, to The Browns School in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. It uses state-of-the-art technology and consists of a large interactive touch screen on the wall connected to a ceiling-mounted projector, a computer and the internet.

Teachers can access a wealth of lessons that have been created using special software and tailor-made for children with learning disabilities, by tapping in to a massive pre-loaded resource library. The board stimulates curiosity and creativity by engaging all the senses - sight, hearing, touch, imagination and participation. The internet connectivity offers an endless selection of lesson material.

"The screen is mounted at an accessible level for children in wheelchairs, enabling them to interact in the lesson by using touch-screen technology," says The Browns School principal Dave Smyth. "For children who have difficulty writing, they will be able to participate using the 'drag-and-drop' feature by pressing icons on the screen - and this will revolutionise their lives."

"We are committed to boosting education, and as our product range features the latest technological innovations, this partnership aligns perfectly to the company's brand," adds DionWired GM Andrew Jackson.
