South Africa's winning smile
Kaymari, a 5th year medical student at the University of Stellenbosch, received 33% of 39,626 votes after submitting her picture for the competition. Her prize includes R50,000 in cash.
“I am over the moon and quite speechless!” Kaymari told the competition organisers. “I am going to put the money towards a trip to Greece for my parents to thank them for all they have done for me. I would also like to donate some of the money to my church and perhaps put some aside for my studies.”
Over 1,000 photographs were entered into the competition in February and March this year and a panel of celebrity judges selected 10 entrants that they thought depicted a “true shining smile”. These pictures were then posted on the Aquafresh White and Shine website for public voting in April.
As the winner, Kaymari will appear in the next Aquafresh White & Shine advertisement. “I am very excited to be part of the photo shoot,” she said. Voters can look out for her winning smile in Men's Health, Glamour and Clicks Club Card magazines, where the print ad will soon appear.
