A coffee calendar with sensuality

The glamorous images from the 2008 Lavazza calendar were revealed at an international preview event held at the Palace of Versailles, Paris, yesterday.
A coffee calendar with sensuality

The Most Majestic Espresso Experience, the title of the 16th edition of the calendar, has been created by the renowned Scottish photographer Finlay MacKay. Under the artistic direction of the Armando Testa agency, the calendar depicts the flamboyance of imaginary royal courts through an original photographic interpretation.

Six images, by one of the most modern artists currently working in the field of photography, have been inspired by art nouveau imagery. The photographs hint at the imaginary worlds of the French and Chinese imperial courts and even the chivalry of the Middle Ages. There are hints of irony, sensuality and elegance, in perfect harmony with Lavazza espresso.

Francesca Lavazza, the company's Image Manager, comments: “Finlay MacKay won us over by putting everything on the line with regards to the theme and the entire project. He has created an elegant and sumptuous, sensual, ironic and modern calendar.”

The 16th edition of the calendar features a creation by UK designer Vivienne Westwood. Luxury Italian jewellery designer Damiani also supplied diamond jewellery to dress the queens.

The essence of the calendar is that everybody can afford a majestic coffee break and enjoy a moment of luxury and elegance - at least for the time it takes to enjoy a coffee.

The new calendar is but one component in a strategy the company has launched to position Lavazza as a cult brand.
