#FreshOffTheShelf: HovnBae song selected for new Cheese Curls commercial
Together with the local six-member band, known for its young eclectic sound, the brand team co-created cleverly crafted lyrics for the new song, which speaks true to the feelings of joy experienced when eating Willards Cheese Curls and reinforces the brand’s promise of ‘bags full of smiles’.
Commercials that incorporate memorable jingles or songs are among some of the most effective and locally more companies are turning to popular music to promote their products, becoming a powerful marketing strategy. The mere sight of a product can trigger the words of the corresponding jingle/song, and hearing the words reminds people of the product. Music and song have a strong linkage in people’s lives, the connection often evoking memories and powerful feelings. Some of South Africa’s most successful adverts have surfaced in popular culture as songs, in movies and online social networks.
The song evokes feelings of celebration, friendship, family and togetherness - all the things that make people proud to be South African.
