Art for Glass Graffiti Competition announces winner
Artist Dbongz Mahalathi is the winner of The Glass Recycling Company's (TGRC) Art for Glass Graffiti Competition. TGRC created the competition to draw the attention of Johannesburg residents to the numerous glass banks in the city. See the launch of Orbit's new sustainable packaging campaign
The packaging of Orbit Gum's product range is now more sustainable and recyclable. The company's shift to more environmentally-friendly packaging falls in line Mars Incorporated's Sustainability in a Generation strategy. To create awareness around the new packaging, Orbit has also launched the Pledge to Plant campaign under the banner #JustOneThing. City of Joburg spends Mandela Day cleaning up Orlando West
Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg's department of water and sanitation alongside, Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba and several sponsors, arranged a cleanup operation in Orlando West in Soweto on Nelson Mandela International Day, 18 July 2018. The clean up also served as the handover of 30 Qhubeka bicycles to a group of youth, women, and men from the Emaplatini Heritage Site who spend their spare time voluntarily cleaning up and monitoring illegal dumping zones....

Petco Media Spotlight Award
Along with nine individuals and companies who have made extraordinary contributions to PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) recycling in South Africa during the course of 2016, Bizcommunity's managing editor, Sindy Peters, was named one of the winners as part of the Petco Annual General Meeting, held on 7 June at the Radisson Blu Sandton Hotel in Johannesburg.

Wavescape Festival
The Wavescape Festival in Cape Town, an ocean-minded event, included film screenings, art exhibitions, ocean talks, filmmaking workshops and a charity auction. A record R328,000 was raised and will be making its way to four important ocean causes.
