Sleazy website sullies Joburg's name

Internet surfers who mistype the address for Johannesburg's official website could be in for a sleazy surprise - a hardcore porn site is operating on the domain www.joburg.com. The official Joburg website is on www.joburg.org.za. "It is a big problem but there isn't anything we can do about it. All we can do is publish and market our website more vigorously," said City manager Pascal Moloi, but IT law specialist Pam Stein says that the city could dispute proceedings through Icann if it proved that it had a common law or registered trademark in the name Joburg.
