SA websites not ready for ECT Bill compliance
Judging by a survey conducted by Buys Inc. Attorneys and Trust Online, South African e-commerce websites are not ready to be compliant with the provisions of the new ECT Bill. A staggering 47% of the surveyed sites had no legal notices at all, and of the 10.9% did have all the essential legal notices, most were insufficient for compliance with the Bill. Shopping portals with the highest readiness rates were IOL (37.9%) and M-Web (25%). The only website in the survey that was 100% compliant with the ECT Bill and the South African common law was Kalahari.net.
