Tribute to Soweto Uprising anniversary
'Sarafina!', which was inspired by the events of the Soweto Uprising of 16 June 1976, will be released across 41 cinemas in South Africa today, Thursday 15 June 2006, the day before the commemoration of the Uprising's 30th anniversary. Special discounts for group bookings are available for schools. The digitally-enhanced director's cut of the musical film was launched at a gala premiere co-hosted by Videovision Entertainment and Ster Kinekor at Southgate Mall, outside Soweto, on 11 June.
