Popcorn brings hospital cheer
Hundreds of brightly coloured gift bags have been delivered to various hospitals and orphanages in Gauteng over the festive season, courtesy of Popcorn and Nu Metro Theatres. Each package was coded either boy- or girl-friendly before being delivered to masses of under-privileged children.
"Throughout the year Popcorn assisted Nu Metro in co-ordinating promotional items and giveaways to accentuate its Groovy Movie offerings for kids," says Debbie Brady, Popcorn sales director. "At the end of last year we found we had adequate stock left over from various promotions to put together gift packs."
"We brainstormed and decided as a team that we would visit kids at orphanages and at hospitals like Baragwanath and Coronationville, as well as street children in the surrounding areas to try spread a bit of cheer."
With a boardroom overflowing with pink and blue bags and promotional items, the staff got to work compiling age and gender appropriate gift packs which were then delivered by the Popcorn team to over 800 very appreciative children.
