Blues turns twenty in style
International landmark, Blues Restaurant, instrumental for putting Camps Bay on the map, celebrated their 20th birthday on 30 August with an extravagant affair overlooking the sea. The Camps Bay strip was lit up especially for the occasion, with the row of palm trees glowing blue and leading guests to the celebration.
CT's who's who were welcomed with bubbly and oysters as they entered the revamped and re-styled Blues Restaurant. Socialites mingled with celebrities, including Colin Moss, Jeannie D, Tamarin Kaplan, Andrew Mac and MC's Natalie Becker and Marc Lottering. Dazzling, Becker, looked seriously sexy in her Etincelle Paris creation while Lottering exuded sophistication in Fabiani, one of South Africa's most famous menswear retail stores.
Blues Restaurant is known for having some of the finest culinary masters behind their stoves and to commemorate their twentieth year, four of these gastronomic magicians were back in action to remind guests why Blues has remained tops. Renowned chef's Michael le Borgne, Lorenzo Schiaffini, Bob Knuckey and food alchemist Pete Goffe-Wood each prepared a signature dish, bringing the kitchen to life.
Lottering hosted a live broadcast from the Blues kitchen out to Becker and the guests of the party, bringing the cook-up to them by interviewing each chef whilst they whipped up mouth-watering cuisine.
Well known entertainers, CODA, brought another form of life to the party with their upbeat performance. Then DJ, Martin Myers, took guests back to Blues' birth year with his tunes from the 80's whilst Natalie and Marc reminisced with 20 year nostalgia. Later on in the evening legendary Cape Town DJ, Nick Matthews, ripped up the decks and the dance floor filled up as guests partied into the early hours of the morning.
After birthday toasts and warm wishes, the Blues Babes, in their stunning Flava dresses and glamorous make up compliments of Bobbi Brown, performed a dance routine as glitter bombs and mirror balls went live.
Guests left with goodie bags, containing specially designed commemorative Blues T-Shirts, Bay Skincare vouchers for the ladies and memories of a fabulous birthday bash to pave the way for another 20 years of stylish culinary excellence.
