Launching Krew
On Tuesday, August 15, 2006, Krew Magazine, South Africa's only guys' weekly, threw a roaring launch at Ignite, Camps Bay.
Guests included Marilyn Thompson (Thompson & Team), Edu van Rijswyk (MEC), Marcus Brewster (FHM), and the media teams from FCB, Distell, The Really Great Brand Company, Brandhouse, Picardi Rebel, Woolworths, Musica, and, of course, loads of scantily-clad ladies, including the gorgeous Face of Krew girls.
Editor Gavin Williams (of Crazy Monkey and Straight Outta Benoni fame) told the over 150 guests that Krew will deliver a weekly dose of double-spreads of local and international girls, features, readers' competitions, TV guides, reviews, sports and more, for only R12.95 - all aimed at the 16-35 year-old, LSM 7-10 guy target market (and their girlfriends).
The party lasted late into the night, with an open bar and cocktail snacks adding to the highly positive atmosphere. Krew seemed to have hit just the right note with its optimistic, maverick approach to SA publishing.
