Entries now open for the SAFTAs

As of yesterday, Monday, 1 June 2009 entries for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) are open. They will close on Friday, 31 July 2009, it was announced yesterday.

Only South African films or television productions/programmes that have been produced and publicly exhibited or broadcast between 1 April 2008 and 31 July 2009 are eligible for entry into the SAFTAS 2010.

The SAFTAs is an industry initiative managed under the custodianship of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) under whose values the essence of the awards are encapsulated those of creativity, freedom of expression, entrepreneurship and equitable redress; the broadcasters M-Net, e.tv and SABC, distributors, Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro with industry practitioner representation.

Categories

Since its inception in 2005 the SAFTAs have honoured individuals and productions in the following categories: TV Non-fiction, TV Fiction, Feature Films, Short Films, Student Films and Animation with Special Lifetime achievement awards given to those individuals who have long served the industry in various categories.

Entry forms and rules and regulations can be obtained from the NFVF website: www.nfvf.co.za. All entries, including the entry form, screen credit form, and DVDs per entry should be submitted no later than Friday, 31 July 2009 at 4pm, either by mail/courier or physical delivery to: The South African Film and Television Awards, c/o National Film and Video Foundation, 87 Central Street, Houghton, Johannesburg, 2196.
