Corobrik sponsors 25th Architectural Student of the Year Award

The top architectural graduates from seven institutions throughout South Africa will compete for the prestigious twenty-fifth Corobrik Architectural Student of the Year Award at a function to be held on 7 March 2012 at the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg.

"Architects have a fundamental role to play in our developing nation to produce architecture that is holistic in its resolution of the sustainability imperative - addressing the economic, social and environmental issues with careful thought and due sensitivity," said Corobrik's MD Dirk Meyer.

"While Corobrik initiated this competition 25 years ago to promote quality design and to acknowledge architectural talent amongst students, this awards programme has in the context of the prevailing sustainability paradigm become an increasingly important catalyst for extending the discourse on what constitutes sustainable architecture in the South African context."

The top thesis students from Universities and approved Universities of Technology throughout South Africa go forward to the national competition that takes place over three days.
