Bursaries to the value of R100,000 were awarded to the lucky winner, and first and second runner-ups received Damelin bursaries amounting to R20,000 each.
The main prize will allow Miss Teen India SA 2012 to complete three years of study at a Damelin campus of her choice.
For almost 70 years, Damelin has been rewarding students with financial assistance, and this falls in line with their mission to equip South African students with quality private education and training.
The pageant invites local beauties across the country, between the ages of 15-19 years old to compete for the coveted title of Miss Teen India SA 2012. The chief executive officer of the Miss Teen India SA event, Sharon Maharaj, notes that "many perceive the event to be a showcase of only beauty, however the pageant incorporates many talents such as Indian performing arts.
"The winner should embody beauty, elegance, poise and imbue strong moral and leadership qualities in the youth of South Africa. Also, the event plays an integral part in youth upliftment, by assisting to pay school fees for many students".
