Marketers urged to comment on new Bill

Chris de Villiers, executive director of the Marketing Association of South Africa (MASA) is urging all marketers to review the Protection of Private Information Bill, now out for public comment and also access the Law Reform Commission Press statement through the MA (SA) website.

“We believe that this Bill, in keeping with international trends, will need to be taken very seriously by all marketers. The association, acting on behalf of all its members and working with associated industry bodies, will be studying the Bill and submitting comment to the relevant authorities,” states de Villiers. “Our technical advisory panel will be informed of this development and will guide the association and its members with regard to the implications of the Bill as these become apparent.”

Comments and queries should be sent to marked "Comment - Information Bill" by Friday, 11 September 2009 (first due date).

The Bill can be accessed at http://pmg.org.za/ and the Law Reform Commission website can be accessed on http://salawreform.justice.gov.za/.
