"Elle's undisputable brand power, coupled with an unprecedented upswing in South Africa's fashion consumption trend has yielded excellent sales results." ABC figures announced recently show an impressive growth in Elle's circulation from 38 571 to 45 100. This is a 16.5% increase from first to second quarter 2006. AMPS measurement indicate a growth in readership from 260 000 to 284 000 resulting in a 9% year on year growth for the period 2004/05 to 2005/06.

A fashion icon in her own right, Burger has served as Elle's fashion editor over the past two years. She has had a illustrious, rich and varied career in the fashion industry over the past 18 years and sees her appointment as editor of Elle South Africa as the ultimate position: "It affords me a tremendous opportunity to strengthen the global Elle brand in South Africa. I can't wait to engage and involve myself in developing the voice for spirited women of all ages who celebrate themselves as independent individuals."

Burger has been consulting fashion editor of FairLady, a selection of trade magazines, including Woolworths, V& A Waterfront and Visi, a high quality and exclusive decor magazine and served as fashion editor of Elle South Africa. She has presented a fashion television series; did a number of fashion inserts for magazine-style programmes and consulted on brand re-activation projects for clients such as Lever Pond's.
