Copyright issues and the fight against piracy

The French Embassy in Pretoria, the CNC and Screen Africa invite audiovisual industry professionals to attend a free seminar on copyright in the area of film and music creative works.

An understanding of both local and international copyright is important to anyone who is involved in the production chain of literary and artistic works. Without knowledge of one's rights in copyright law in Europe and how it interfaces with the South African copyright environment, one is in danger of losing one's creative work and its financial benefits to unscrupulous people and companies.

The French Embassy has compiled a two-day seminar programme which draws on French and South African copyright expertise. The French Embassy is also pleased to announce that Hélène de Montluc of the French Ministry of Culture and a renowned European expert in literary and artistic property will be addressing the seminar. As a main guest, the seminar will also feature MacDonal Netshitenzhe of the South African Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Please note that the Copyright Seminar is free and that space is limited. Access will only be possible on confirmed invitation.
