General Manager

A well-established and successful Print and Label manufacturing business is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to take responsibility for the strategic direction and overall performance of its Cape Town operation.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a proven manufacturing executive to lead an established operation, driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, sustainable growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the business.
• Drive operational performance, productivity, profitability, quality and customer service excellence.
• Develop and implement business strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing management team, fostering accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Oversee manufacturing, sales, commercial, supply chain, finance and support functions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and business partners.
• Identify new business and growth opportunities.
• Take responsibility for financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure and cost optimization.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, health and safety and quality requirements.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations Management, Business Management or a related field, or relevant RPL.
• Postgraduate qualification such as an MBA will be advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years' senior management experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in label printing, packaging, printing, converting or FMCG manufacturing will be highly advantageous.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including responsibility for budgets and profitability.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Sound knowledge of labour legislation, health and safety and quality management systems.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
