Screen Africa Talent & Technology Conference
The conference will coincide with the MediaTech Africa Exhibition which is a showcase of the new broadcast, audio, video and telecommunications technology that has become available.
This is the third Screen Africa Talent & Technology Conference and as in previous years it covers issues affecting the creative and technology areas of the broadcast and film industry.
To provide expert opinions on the current state of digital broadcast, the conference has secured top international speakers Stuart Prebble, former Chief Executive of ITV Digital; Jeff Astle, Head of Strategy & Development at Digital One in the UK; and Roger Johannson, Manager Digital Radio at Factum Electronics in Sweden. Amoordalingum Pather - CEO MultiCarrier Mauritius will also speak on the "African experience" of the pilot broadcasts and processes in Mauritius as well as a speaker from Berlin who will share information about the digital experience in Germany.
The Conference will also look at various important areas required in the business side of television and film production. Attorney Vanessa van Coppenhagen will examine Intellectual Property Rights in relation to Copyright as well as Format Rights.
Award-winning local and international director Nico Steyn will relate the creative principles of one of the great minds of this century, Dr Edward de Bono to television and film production.
Sam Bhembe of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the National Film & Video Foundation will provide practical guidelines in approaching potential funders.
Indra de Lanerolle, producer of local and international film, drama, documentary and entertainment television will talk about the new opportunities that can be found in making low budget feature films specifically for the African market. While Australian Jane Corden, CEO of the Moneypenny Group of companies which cover financial services to the Australian and international film and television industry will share her knowledge of the tricky area of production budgets.
