Estie Courage Award

The search is also on for South Africa's most courageous breast cancer survivor. Nominations are being called for from all South Africans who want to pay tribute to their courageous mothers, wives, sisters and daughters whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.

We would love you to join us in this search, to help us find South Africa's brave and courageous breast cancer survivors! We are inviting the public to nominate the women who they believe have achieved this in their own right.

‘The Estie Courage Award' has been founded by Hans Rooseboom in memory of Estie, his mother, who fought the battle of breast cancer with faith, hope, determination and courage, whilst still remaining ‘mom' to her three boys. This award celebrates and commemorates all those women who had to face the same struggle. Those who faced it with trepidation and lots of bravery and who did not become victims but remained wonderful mothers, great companions and pillars of strength for those around them.

Nominees for this award can be made by any work colleague, doctor, nurse, carer, friend or family member of a breast cancer survivor. Self-nominees are also accepted. Nominees must be South African citizens and living in South Africa so that the winner can serve as a positive role model!

The closing date for nominations is the 15th September 2007. South Africans who would like to enter candidates can email their motivation together with their contact details and the candidate's name to lucinda@shoza.co.za or call 011 234 0400.

After a nation wide search, the finalists will be invited on the 3rd October, 2007 to attend the spectacular HER2, Roche, M-net and Temptations Breast Cancer Lunch, at the Sandton Convention Centre, where we celebrate in style and the winner will be announced.

There is a first, second and third place for the Estie Courage Award. First place will receive a floating trophy and a cash prize, which will remain a surprise for the moment. Second and third place will receive trophies and certificates.
