Contingency plan for D&AD judging in place

LONDON: The Icelandic volcanic eruption and the resulting travel restrictions have impacted upon D&AD judging, taking place this week in London, 19-22 April. D&AD has instigated a two-pronged contingency plan and judging is going ahead as planned. Meanwhile, the D&AD blog reports that today's President's Lecture has been cancelled as Mike Byrne is unable to travel to the UK.
Contingency plan for D&AD judging in place

D&AD, which has been monitoring the situation closely since flight restrictions first came into place last Thursday, has:

  1. wherever possible, set up remote voting to enable judges unable to travel to London to cast their votes.

  2. a bank of reserve judges based in the UK that will be able to replace those unable to attend or participate remotely.

All affected jurors have been contacted to discuss options and to establish a plan of action.

States D&AD: “We will retain the integrity of D&AD Judging and will not proceed with anything that we feel undermines this. We will continue to keep judges and entrants informed of developments over the coming days.

“We are very grateful to the industry, who have shown such commitment to make D&AD Judging happen; either going to great lengths to get here or changing their schedules to stand in at the last minute.”

D&AD will be posting up results - basic credits of in-book and nominated work - throughout the week. It will also be interviewing judges and posting online, and keeping twitterland up to date with news using #dandad. For more, go to www.dandad.org.
