Hamba kahle, 2011! We have now reached that point where we pause to take stock of the old year and set some intentions for the new - yes, this is your final Bizcommunity Marketing & Media South Africa newsletter for the year! We will resume again on Monday, 9 January 2012, although news will still be published on the portal by a skeleton staff over the holiday season. And don't forget that our annual Biz Trends Report Series commences in January. For some of us, this festive season break just hasn't come quickly enough after what was both a long, tough and tiring year that managed to whiz by and leave us gasping, gobsmacked and all a-twitter, too. 2011 was also Bizcommunity's 10th birthday and a year of growth for us as we underwent a facelift, launched a whole whack of new portals with corresponding newsletters and took to the radio (yes, Biz Takeouts will be back in the New Year, too). As we wrap up our 10th year as enablers to some of South Africa's premier business communities, our mission for 2012 remains unchanged - to be, support and create platforms for free speech and the right to know, networking, associations, growing and learning of southern African and greater African business. Once again, heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the entire biz team - editorial, support, admin, design, production, IT, sales and HR - and to the entire biz community of readers, columnists, journalists, contributors, bloggers, PRs, media partners, content partners, clients, newsmakers, commentators, photographers, videographers and anyone else who's contributed in any way: thank you for growing with us! With much love from the biz team Happy Bizmas! Simone Puterman ( @SimoneBiz) Managing editorPS The Cell C account, currently held by Ogilvy Johannesburg, is out to pitch; City Press reported on the weekend that presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj has laid criminal charges against the newspaper and Media24 Investigations; and radio host Kieno Kammies is moving back to Cape Town to anchor the breakfast slot on 567 Cape Talk. Responses to this column welcomed in our editor's column archive. Please send all South African marketing and media news to marketingnews@bizcommunity.com, opinion pieces to contributors-marketing@bizcommunity.com and international news to internationalnews@bizcommunity.com.
