Shift happens. Are you ready?

The Nedbank IMC has announced Sheldon Tatchell, CEO and founder of Legends Corporation, as a speaker for its 2026 conference, taking place on Thursday, 17 September 2026 at Mosaïek Teatro in Johannesburg or online.
Under the 2026 theme Shift Happens™, Tatchell will present Business of Impact, a session exploring how a business built around service, culture and community can scale without losing the qualities that made it relevant in the first place.
What began with a pair of clippers in Eldorado Park has grown into Legends Barber, one of Africa’s most recognisable grooming businesses. Tatchell built the brand from the ground up, expanding beyond the barber’s chair while keeping consistency, customer experience and community opportunity at the centre of the business.
That story is now taking another turn. Legends Barber can now be found at selected bp forecourts, extending the brand into a new environment and creating a timely case study in partnership, access and growth. The development also creates a natural connection between Tatchell’s business story and the Nedbank IMC’s collaboration with bp.
At the conference, Tatchell will unpack the decisions behind Legends’ growth: how the business has used culture as an asset, developed talent, created career pathways and built a brand that can expand into new markets while remaining recognisable and relevant. The story reflects the Nedbank IMC’s Marketing is Business® philosophy by connecting brand-building directly to commercial growth and community impact.
Skills development and community upliftment are also embedded in the Legends model, from training centres that equip aspiring barbers for the industry to initiatives such as the Legend Township Marathon. The conference will bring a small part of the Legends experience into the venue through a barbering touchpoint, and a quick trim may even be on the cards.
“Sheldon’s journey shows what Business of Impact looks like when it is built into the business itself,” said Dale Hefer, CEO of the Nedbank IMC. “Legends has created cultural relevance and commercial scale while opening doors for people and communities. That is exactly the kind of story we want on the Nedbank IMC stage.”
The Nedbank IMC 2026 will feature a curated, not crowdsourced, line-up of 20+ speakers blending global insight with African context. Thousands of students will attend virtually at no cost through the YOUTH1000 programme, in partnership with MASA.
