MDNtv earns 2 nominations at the North West Media Awards 2026

The nominations span two connected areas of the newsroom’s work: producing journalism for digital audiences and using social platforms to bring that reporting into public view.

Bringing audiences closer to the story

MDNtv’s coverage includes court proceedings, commissions of inquiry, breaking news and community stories. Under its People-Driven News positioning, the newsroom focuses on connecting audiences with developments that affect their lives.

Reporting on court proceedings and public inquiries requires continuity. For audiences following a matter over several days or weeks, the value lies in understanding how each development fits into the wider story.

MDNtv’s approach combines coverage from the ground with digital updates that help audiences follow proceedings as they unfold.

The role of social distribution

The Social Media Platform of the Year nomination places a spotlight on another part of the publishing process: how journalism reaches people.

For a digital newsroom, social platforms provide opportunities to distribute reporting, receive news tips and engage with communities. They also bring the responsibility of maintaining context and accuracy as stories move between live coverage, shorter clips and written updates.

The two award categories reflect the relationship between newsroom output and audience engagement. One concerns the media house itself; the other concerns its presence on the platforms where many readers and viewers encounter its work.
