More trends to watch this year

In our first 2013 Trends feature today Gerry Costa looks at the heart of African marketing and, looking at what is required to formulate Afro-centric marketing strategies that can succeed, gives his views on what we can expect in 2013.

Matona Sakupwanya then takes a look at how radio is raising the volume. The media, she says, has always baffled media futurologists, effortlessly bouncing back from perceived 'threats' such as recession right through to technological revolution. In the third of today's features, Mongezi Mtati looks at the seven youth-influencer outreach insights you should be checking out.

For all of you who follow our Biz Takeouts Podcasts (and who doesn't?) the latest takes a look at the state of e-commerce in South Africa.

Keeping mobile as always, Lex Faure gives his views on Mobile Ubuntu - a Unix powered smartphone, soon to be released by Mark Shuttleworth, South African IT millionaire and Open Source Champion.

And finally, Sanef has slammed prisons officers' treatment of journalists... During an official visit to Groenpunt Maximum Security Prison in the Free State, Correctional Services officers detained journalists and photographers and deleted images on their cameras and cellphones.
