Jeff Bezos reckons National Enquirer's exposé was politically motivated
It seems the rivalry between US President Donald Trump and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos rages on. In the latest instance, Bezos has seemingly uncovered a conspiracy involving a tabloid and some incriminating photographs.
The tech billionaire has accused supermarket tabloid National Enquirer and its publisher David Pecker of extortion and blackmail.
The tabloid, which is owned by American Media Inc., published an exposé on Bezos's relationship with former TV anchor Lauren Sanchez. Since then, Bezos hired investigators to find out if the story was politically motivated - he owns the Washington Post, which has written critical stories about Trump, who counts Pecker as a close ally.
Most recently, Bezos revealed that the National Enquirer had threatened to publish more details and revealing photos if the executive didn't stop the probe.
