American firm tries to hijack rooibos rights
An American company, Burke International, claims to have registered the word "rooibos" as a trademark in the United States, meaning that South African rooibos tea exporters would be effectively barred from selling in the US under the name "rooibos" unless they sell through Burke. South African company Rooibos Ltd is seeking legal opinion.
