Book for Ster-Kinekor movies through iPhone

Following the successful launch of Ster-Kinekor's app for Nokia and Android, the chain has announced the launch of the iOS version, available in the Apple App Store.

Available as a free download, the app is the fourth instalment of the suite of mobile apps designed and developed by Prezence Digital. The app will be compatible with Apple mobile (iPhone and iPod touch) devices running iOS4 upwards and will feature enhanced location and mapping features, full iPhone calendar integration with alerts and reminders, in-booking reminder alerts and the ability to send movie trailers to an Apple TV via Airplay. The app is also currently available for Symbian, Meego and Android (phone and tablet) devices.

The app allows users to view high-quality trailers, filter cinemas by location, show movie start times, browse listings by genre and easily and safely purchase tickets, using an interactive seating plan. Users can also view detailed movie synopses, cast lists and enriched movie news.

Marketing executive Doug Place says, "With our target market increasingly making their entertainment decisions based on online and mobile media, the launch of the iOS app is yet another step to fully digitising and mobilising the brand and customer experience; a key goal for us. Digital assets such as these all work together to bring the power of the movies right into the hands of cinema lovers. It is essential for the group to be able to connect and transact with all our customers in a manner that suits their lifestyle and preferences."

"Providing real value for the end user"

Chief technology officer of Prezence Digital, Tim Bishop adds, "When developing an app, it is critical for us to ensure that it serves the brand's bottom-line as well as providing real value for the end user. With these apps actually having real m-commerce functionality and day-to-day appeal and usefulness, they not only build brand loyalty, but also help to serve the core of the client's business aims. More importantly, the Apps rollout comes after already making its bookings accessible for all mobile users using any type of handset via the multi award winning mobisite. The apps will continue to evolve new and exciting features for all platforms."

Following on from the recent release of the Android Tablet app in the Samsung Apps Store, an iPad enhanced version will be available shortly that will also be optimised for the latest version's retina display.

"Our apps team, which is unique in the ability to natively develop for all platforms together with the client, is finalising the Blackberry version of the app, which will be launched soon," concludes Bishop.
