Ilanga Le Theku joins NAB stable

Ilanga, the Durban-based newspaper publisher, has launched a new freesheet tabloid targeting commuters in the Durban Metropolitan region. Entitled Ilanga Le Theku, the weekly freesheet will be represented by the Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB) and offers advertisers another sector of the local market.

"Ilanga Le Theku provides excellent reach of the commuter market, an important part of our economically active population," says Gill Randall, Joint Managing Director for NAB. "It adds an extra dimension to our penetration of this important market, providing advertisers with yet another effective media option. Advertisers that use the new publication in conjunction with Ilanga, the well-established Zulu newspaper with a circulation of over 105 000, will enjoy a very keenly priced package deal."

Ilanga Le Theku, meaning 'Ilanga at the Bay', is formatted as a 20-page weekly giveaway. It will be distributed at 52 points in the Durban metropolitan region including the busiest railway stations to taxi ranks and bus stations.

With an initial print run of 50 000 and a strong focus on community news, sport, music, entertainment and the youth, Ilanga Le Theku will be edited by Sandile Mdadane.
