SUNWORX Solar receives Frost & Sullivan Award
"The diversity of power solutions provides SUNWORX with an exceptionally large application base, and covers varied users from homes, to industrial mines, commercial property owners, industrial operations and grid operators,” said Frost & Sullivan research analyst Tilden Hellyer. "The company has already recorded growth of over 100% year-on-year over the last four years and expects to hit top line sales figures of over R1bn by 2022, partly due to the rising costs of energy and the simultaneous drop in the cost of solar and storage technology."
SUNWORX lays emphasis on the residential sector, which is largely overlooked by competing vendors due to the unfeasibility of small projects. Its price competitiveness is the most apparent in South Africa’s municipalities, as these suburbs fall outside of Eskom’s jurisdiction and charge higher prices than Eskom. The company’s offerings and attractive prices have resulted in more than 1,000 residential solar systems being connected to the grid.
Electric charging station made of bamboo
SUNWORX is one of the first companies to design and install an electric charging station made of bamboo and a stainless steel housing unit for solar panels. This also reduces the after-sale carbon footprint of vehicles substantially. BMW too will deploy standardised SUNWORX solar solutions in the I3 and I8 range of BMW electric cars.
SUNWORX will be installing the largest solar car port charging station in Southern Africa towards the end of 2016, and it is expected to produce almost 3,000,000KWh/pa. Vehicle owners will therefore have the opportunity to either install a residential home solar system or a solar car port with the electric vehicle charging technology.
"Prior to serious engagement, SUNWORX presents clients with a high-level financial model delivering rich, active information. This helps the company best structure a package or individually customise a specific solution for the customer," noted Hellyer. "These value additions and robust service have won SUNWORX considerable repeat business, a few of them from South Africa’s largest banks."
Expanding beyond SA
The SUNWORX brand is gradually expanding beyond the borders of South Africa and has gained a foothold in Seychelles, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Significantly, its management has not outsourced any of its functions and has built a proudly South African company, positioning it for further growth in Africa.
