Worldspace and CNNI extend global relationship

Worldspace Satellite Radio has renewed its contract with CNN International (CNNI) for another three years, and is now licensed to broadcast CNNI in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region.

"We're excited to renew our relationship with Worldspace and by extension, Worldspace subscribers worldwide," says Maggie Eales, senior vice president of Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited.

"CNN International has always supported new distribution platforms and, based on satellite radio's growing popularity in North America, we believe that Worldspace is uniquely positioned to reach consumers across the globe who may not otherwise have easy access to our timely content."

CNN International delivers news stories from around the world from its 4000 strong staff of journalists based around the world, including major studios in London, Atlanta, and Hong Kong. The channel is available on both of Worldspace's satellites - AsiaStar and AfriStar - and comprises its trademark breaking news as well as business news, sports news, analysis, current affairs, feature programming and documentaries.

"We are proud to extend our relationship with CNN International and to continue providing subscribers with one of the world's most respected and ubiquitous English-language news sources," comments Billy Sabatini, vice president of global content, Worldspace.

"As we extend existing contracts and forge new relationships with high quality content providers, we enhance Worldspace's subscriber value and reinforce our position as the dominant international provider of satellite radio services."

New Worldspace subscribers can listen to CNNI on channel 300.
