The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has notified consumers of a safety recall affecting 2,586 Isuzu D-Max RG19 bakkies sold in South Africa.
The recall covers single-cab, double-cab and extended-cab models sold nationwide between 11 May and 3 July 2026. The affected vehicles were also exported to Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, eSwatini, Uganda and Zambia.
Potential brake pedal fault
According to Isuzu Motors South Africa, the brake pedal pivot pin on affected vehicles may be loose.
If this occurs, the brake pedal may move sideways when the brakes are applied. This could make it more difficult for the driver to fully depress the pedal and potentially reduce braking performance when attempting to stop the vehicle.
Owners urged to contact Isuzu dealers
Owners of affected vehicles should take their vehicles to their nearest Isuzu dealership for an inspection and replacement of the defective component.
The remedial work will be carried out at no cost to consumers.
“A vehicle’s braking system is a critical safety component of a vehicle. It is therefore imperative for owners or users of these vehicles to contact their preferred authorised dealership without any delay,” said NCC Acting Commissioner Hardin Ratshisusu.
