Android powers 42% of US phones
Google's Android software is now being used on 42% of the smartphones sold in the United States in July according to comScore - an industry tracking company that reports on trends in the US.
An article published in the Mail & Guardian says that Apple's market share rose to 27% in July while BlackBerry saw its market share fall by 4% to 21,7% according to comScore.
Microsoft is a small player in the market at present with a share of just 5,7% and troubled Nokia's Symbian platform has dropped to just 1,9%. More than 82-million smartphones were sold in the US between April and July bringing the overall number of mobile phone users to 234-million.
