2017 Johannesburg Color Run celebrates superheroes

The 2017 Johannesburg Color Run will celebrate superheroes with its Superhero Tour taking place on 10 September in Emmarentia, Johannesburg.

With thousands of superheroes coming together to celebrate happiness, health, individuality, and community in the most colourful way possible, runners can look forward to a happy and fun 5km run.

“Superheroes are around us every day, and The Color Run’s 2017 Superhero Tour is unleashing everyone’s inner hero. Participants are encouraged to use The Color Run as a platform for good - whether it’s raising awareness for a good cause or raising funds for charity, or even simply acknowledging that you live with a Supermom. This year we celebrate the Superhero in all of us,” says Trevor Latimer, national event coordinator for The Color Run.

    Supporting the community at large

“The Color Run not only focuses on an activity that promotes health, but more importantly, the coming together of our diverse communities. It also enables us to give back to communities,” says Francois Viviers exec: marketing and communications at Capitec Bank.

“The portion of proceeds donated from ticket sales ensures that The Color Run event will be remembered well beyond the day of the event itself. Making meaningful and impactful changes to the communities in need is one of the reasons why Capitec supports these events, as the initiative is so well aligned with Capitec’s ethos,” continues Viviers.

Raise funds to help a charity

In addition, this year The Color Run is calling on all runners to nominate a charity and help raise funds for the many superheroes who work tirelessly in our communities each and every day.

The Color Run South Africa raised over R500,000 in 2016 for local causes and educational based initiatives in the areas it visited. In addition, R10 from each purchased ticket is donated via Capitec Bank – The Color Run’s headline sponsor – to its educational uplift programme.

The 2017 event has also seen the introduction of the Nashua Corporate Team Package – a fun team-building option with dedicated demarcated picnic spot and catering. For more information, please visit www.thecolorrun.co.za.

Tickets are available online from The Color Run website and Facebook. Individual ticket prices are R270 and R245 for groups of four or more. Tickets bought on the day cost R300.
