    Oasys supplies Wild Expo

Featuring everything for the outdoor enthusiast, the Wild Expo took place at the beginning of May at the Tshwane Events Centre. The infrastructure was supplied by Oasys Innovations and the show featured various types of angling, hunting, and camping equipment, as well as outdoor activities. The objective of the show was to promote wildlife, conservation, hunting, angling, 4x4 and camping.

Oasys supplied 7963m2 of carpeting and 930m2 of shell scheme for 105 exhibitors, as well as all the electrical requirements. Says Brian Lewis, Chief Operating Officer for Oasys Hiring: "The event gave visitors the chance to see specialised equipment, ranging from camping tools to fishing gear; and talk to experts in the various arenas. Due to the diverse interest of exhibitors and visitors, our infrastructure had to conform to the specific directives of the organiser and the flexibility for exhibitor's precise requirements."

Apart from the product displays, there were various workshops and demonstrations on the different activities. A conference about the proposed land ownership changes for game farms was hosted at the show and the South African Protea Carp team showed anglers how to improve their skills throughout the weekend. Says Hanlie Delport of Siyakula Events, organisers of the show: "This is the first time that we hosted an angling competition as a spectator sport in South Africa. There were also bass angling demonstrations for enthusiasts who own small boats and the monthly 'SA Bass Cast-For-Cash' tournament also presented a boat angling demonstration. We are excited about the success of the show this year, especially as exhibitors have already confirmed their attendance in 2011. We anticipate large percentages of growth in the years to come."

Says Delport: "This was the first year since 2006 that the Wild Expo was held independently, with media partners Game & Hunt, The Bank Angler, SA Bass, SA Wingshooter, The Big Bore Journal and SA Bow Hunter magazines."

Concludes Lewis: "It is always a great opportunity for Oasys to be involved with a show from the inception and to see it grow. Although the Wild Expo is not technically a new show, it certainly has the character to become a long-term feature on the exhibition calendar."
