African ICT magazine launched

AITEC Africa and Multimedia Group have recently launched a pan-African magazine focused on computing, telecommunications and the Internet across English-speaking Africa. The first edition of the new magazine, called Computing and Communications Africa (CC Africa) has already hit the streets across the continent.

Africa presents a unique publishing environment with its vast distances, diverse socio-economic and political makeup, and unique idiosyncrasies. Added to this is a briskly developing and dynamic ICT sector challenged with bridging the digital divide; and the ICT service providers who hope to play a part in this evolution. Access to up-to-date and practical information on the current state of the industry is vital for all stakeholders in order to meet this challenge head on. CC Africa steps confidently into this role.

Publishing stalwarts of the African Information and Communications Technology (ICT) arena, both AITEC and Multimedia, have extensive experience in publishing magazines dedicated to this vigorous and developing sector.

Sean Moroney, head of AITEC, together with Mark Angus, communications and publications director of Multimedia Group, will be co-publishers of the new magazine.

Announcing the joint venture, Angus welcomed the opportunity to combine the skills and experience of the two organisations: "Together, we have a wealth of experience in ICT publishing in Africa, with proven track records in West, East and southern Africa. By combining our considerable resources we are able to introduce a highly-informative, professional and reputable publication that will serve the information and marketing needs of Africa's rapidly expanding and increasingly sophisticated ICT market."

The magazine will be distributed at all the ICT conferences and exhibitions that AITEC hosts throughout Africa each year. Moroney emphasised the magazine's widespread readership: "Our distribution network will give the magazine unprecedented coverage across Africa - addressing the concerns of many marketers. This is an exciting publishing venture, bringing together a wide network of skilled writers and researchers across Africa to create the definitive information resource sorely needed by ICT professionals, managers, resellers, policy-makers, development partners, regulators and consultants."

"Mark and I have both been involved in this sector since the early days of its development. We share a common vision of the vital importance that ICT development plays in Africa's economic progress and competitiveness in the world market. Not to mention the role of ICT in the upliftment of Africa's citizens in general. CC Africa aims to accelerate that process," concludes Moroney.
