Magazine researchers forum for Budapest
The programme is designed for individuals with research responsibilities within magazine publishers, from any part of the world. Proceedings will be conducted in English only.
The objectives of the forum will be:
- To discuss a number of topics identified by FIPP's Research Committee as the most pressing current magazine research issues
- To enable participants to compare notes and learn from each other's recent experience, to the benefit of everyone's work
- For FIPP to promulgate the key points as a means of helping to improve magazine research throughout the world.
Topics
Principal topics to be discussed will include:
- Magazines and Internet. Synergy between the two. What is the extra value of reaching a consumer through both media? Magazines as drivers of online traffic. Also magazines' ability to create word of mouth (WoM) communication.
- Case studies of magazine advertising's effectiveness. Magazines on their own and in combination with TV, internet and other media. Magazines' increasing influence the nearer the criterion is to the purchase decision. How many exposures are required?
- Engagement and the consumer benefit of magazines. Emotional reasons for reading magazines. How does print fit into the everyday lives of consumers? How do these benefits compare and contrast with the reasons for using other media? Conclusions for media strategies.
- Editorial content research, new product development and pre-testing of magazine advertisements. What are the best practices? Will online panels and techniques solve the problem?
- Presenting research results. How to translate sophisticated research arguments into something the everyday sales person can use with confidence. Methods of promoting research results.
Emphasis on discussion
The format of the event will place a heavy emphasis on time for discussion, following short formal presentations. As before, in order to create conditions conducive to good discussion, the number of delegates will be limited to 60. Further details of the programme will be available shortly.
The registration fee is €250, which will cover participation in the forum proceedings and a delegates' dinner on the Thursday evening. Attendees must cover their own travel and accommodation costs. A booking form is available online at
