“OTGM is a media production company targeted at any business or individual who needs to develop content, a brand or produce media and communication around their brand. The creative team of CMT has years of experience developing content, brands and delivering media in all forms to broadcasters and clients, and now this service is available to the corporate sector via OTGM,” says Lucilla Blankenberg, executive director of CMT and director of OTGM.

OTGM services include:

  • Conceptualising of marketing or training material
  • Identifying target audience and best forms of marketing or media to reach them
  • Script writing, treatment writing and messaging
  • Filming and recording of radio and video
  • Directing
  • Production management and implementation
  • Editing – including translations and subtitles in any language
  • Producing and budget management
  • Events and conferences

OTGM was created with the intention of making CMT more sustainable as donor funding for health communication is limited. “All profits earned by OTGM will go into CMT to help sustain CMT and allow us to continue delivering high quality media in the educational and NGO sector as well as train young people in the field of media production and journalism,” says Blankenberg.

Due to their contradicting CMT’s work in the fields of health, gender based violence and human rights, OTGM will not produce advertising for the alcohol, tobacco or junk food industries.

“Our aim as CMT has always been to use media to change the world for the better, and using our resources and talents to aid these industries is not what we believe in. Even though we have started OTGM as a means to help make CMT more sustainable, we will not take on work at the expense of our reputation or principles.”

Among other works, CMT recently launched the new SABC1 series, JAB, directed by Blankenberg. The storyline is about a Langa-based, female boxer and the gender challenges she faces engaging in a male-dominated sport.
