South African created TV show formats at Sithengi
Leading South African film and television production company, Videovision Entertainment, is developing new television show formats in the reality genre, it was announced by its Chief Executive Anant Singh today. The shows being developed are State Your Case, Ocean Warriors and Fight Club T.V.
Anant Singh commented, "The reality genre has taken the world by storm with television viewers glued to their screens watching shows like Survivor, Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity. State Your Case, Ocean Warriors and Fight Club T.V. are engaging new concepts that have the potential to capture large audiences not only in South Africa, but around the world as well. We have had interest from various international companies and we are having meetings with some of them at Sithengi."
State Your Case sees the talk show meet the game show and will be hosted by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire's Jeremy Maggs. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was also produced by Videovision Entertainment.
Ocean Warriors is a stimulating combination of Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Fear Factor and Survivor. It is real and extreme and embraces real heroes in an uncontrolled environment after a big prize. It was created by the Durban-based Julian Taylor.
Fight Club T.V. takes ordinary people into the ultimate survival game - one-on-one, free-style cage fighting. This property is being developed with Andrew Cassells of Reeltime Studios in Durban.
Due to the fact that the reality television market is so competitive and as there have been various lawsuits on the infringement of intellectual property rights inherent in popular reality television shows like Survivor and I'm A Celebrity, among others, details of State Your Case, Ocean Warriors and Fight Club T.V. will be disclosed once the copyright is registered and a broadcaster has been signed on. This is currently in progress. Pilots of the shows will be ready in a few weeks and interested parties would be required to sign confidentiality agreements prior to becoming privy to the ideas and details of the shows.
