Isikhova Publishing appointed to produce CIBJO 2007 congress book

Isikhova Publishing has been appointed to produce the official CIBJO book for distribution at its 2007 congress to be held for the first time in South Africa. Entitled Jewellery for Africa: Energising the jewellery business as a source for sustainable social and economic development, it will be a 72 page, perfect bound book, with content covering the resources available in Africa and the socio-economic challenges the continent currently faces. Experts from each field are being invited to contribute the editorial.

CIBJO, the international confederation of national jewellery trade organisations, will be holding their annual congress in Cape Town, South Africa, from 11-15 March 2007. The theme of the congress is Jewellery for Africa.

CIBJO is the only organisation in the jewellery sector to receive official consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations (UN). CIBJO's president, Dr Gaetano Cavalieri, was given the official notification of acceptance at their 2006 congress in Vancouver, which now enables the association to make a contribution to the programmes and goals of the UN by serving as a technical expert and adviser to governments and the UN Secretariat. Mr Ernest Blom, chairman of South Africa's Diamond Dealers Club, chairman of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and who also sits on CIBJO's presidential committee, has just been appointed Envoy for Africa and Geneva for the UN's Diamond and Jewellery Sector.

Jewellery for Africa will have a total print run of 2 000 printed copies and 2 000 electronic copies. It will, of course, be distributed at the 2007 congress, thus circulating approximately 500 print copies to a direct target market (delegates), with the balance of 1 500 copies being distributed across the world by CIBJO.
